Before social media the world seemed a lot bigger than it seems today. There are many obvious reasons for this one of them being how much easier it is to communicate with those far away. Before people had to write letters, yes with real paper, and mail it with a
real p.o. box. Normally depending on how far away that person is it would take days for that letter to reach another post office and even more day(s) for it to be delivered.
ARPANET was created in 1969, it was the first form of the internet created by the U.S. government communicate through telephone lines. Then there was the Email created in 1972, now it was much more safe and private to communicated with humans across the world. As time go on the internet grew from ARPANET to the World Wide Web, communication was suddenly so much easier and faster and the world became smaller.
Nowadays
Examples of change are the use of Social Media including Snapchat, Instagram,Youtube and Facebook. Now not only would you communicated with words but with images and videos too. There are many upsides to change but there are also many downsides, bullying is one of them. The internet is a very open thing with not much privacy, if you post something for one person to see somehow the whole world sees it too. The world just got a little bit more smaller. Another downside to the social media is how it affects self esteem. From the day you are born till the day you die you will always be compared to someone else, the pictures on social media makes that so much easier.
